Bilingual Medical Case Manager - Registered Nurse


CorVel Corporation is seeking a compassionate, driven, and autonomous registered nurse to join our team as a Medical Case Manager.

This position offers the flexibility of working remotely and requires travel within the designated area. The working schedule is Monday through Friday during standard business hours.


As a Medical Case Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the recovery journey of injured employees and their families.

Your duties will involve close collaboration with injured individuals to support their rehabilitation process. You will engage with the patient, their family, healthcare providers, team members, and other stakeholders.

This role necessitates significant local travel as you manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases within a specified region.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver Medical Case Management services through both in-person and telephonic interactions with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Leverage your nursing expertise to review and discuss the current treatment strategies with healthcare providers and explore alternative options.
  • Assess the appropriateness, medical necessity, and cost-effectiveness of the patient's treatment plans.
  • Conduct evaluations, planning, implementation, and monitoring of the patient's recovery progress.
  • Participate in visits with doctors, other providers, and, when necessary, legal representatives.
  • Engage in discharge planning meetings at hospitals or long-term care facilities to ensure suitable care and develop effective long-term care strategies.
  • Facilitate the provision of necessary medical equipment and nursing services.
  • This position requires regular travel based on the needs of the injured workers, with local travel expected to be up to approximately 60% of the work schedule.
  • Overnight travel may also be necessary.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication and multitasking abilities in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Experience as a Registered Nurse or in Medical Case Management is preferred, with a clinical background in orthopedics, neurology, or rehabilitation being advantageous.
  • Capability to interact effectively with patients, their healthcare providers, legal representatives, and colleagues.
  • Background in cost containment, such as utilization review or managed care, is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office, including Excel.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • Certification in Case Management (CCM, CIRS, etc.) is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are essential for travel to various locations.

SALARY RANGE:
CorVel employs a market-based approach to compensation, and salary ranges may vary based on geographic location and other factors.

Compensation is determined by considering:

federal, state, and local minimum wage laws, geographic location differentials, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and market conditions.

Salary ranges are subject to change.


For positions with multiple levels (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.), new hires may be assigned to a different level based on assessments conducted during the interview process, taking into account experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

The assigned level may influence the salary range, and any adjustments will be discussed during the offer process.

Salary Range:
$63,902 - $96,662
