JOB OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of a physician, the Bilingual Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in delivering healthcare services to patients.

This position encompasses a variety of patient care responsibilities, including but not limited to, maintaining clinical documentation, administering medications, providing injections, monitoring vital signs, scheduling appointments, and training new staff members.

The CMA will also identify challenges and engage in initiatives aimed at improving processes within the healthcare setting.

The role may involve leading team meetings and managing workflow or staff schedules as necessary.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Answer phone calls for the healthcare provider, relay messages, and make calls as directed.

- Complete necessary paperwork, including scanning and filing documents as required.

- Ensure that all charts and forms are prepared for patient visits.

- Schedule patient appointments and follow-up tests as needed.

- Assist providers in examination and procedure rooms with tasks such as lumbar punctures, ultrasounds, and biopsies.

- Support patients with case management and care coordination.

- Assist with cardiac monitoring and operate EKG equipment.

- Maintain inventory levels of medical supplies and reorder as necessary.

- Collect medical data to assist physicians in assessing patient needs.

- Perform phlebotomy and provide instructions for specimen collection.

- Measure and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, and weight.

- Retrieve lab results as needed and document medication refills in patient charts.

- Prepare patients for examinations and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

- Licenses and Certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)

- Experience:

Preferred 2 years of experience as a CMA

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
