Your Role in Our Team:

As a Senior Product Strategist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our premier solution for Project and Fixed Asset Accounting, enabling users to make sound financial decisions. We seek a seasoned professional with a broad skill set, including problem-solving, technical expertise, and a profound grasp of Project & Asset Accounting principles, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across various functions.

You will collaborate closely with Customers, Sales, Services, Marketing, and Engineering teams to develop product roadmaps and establish detailed product specifications. A deep understanding of the PowerPlan Product Suite or Project and Asset Accounting for Utilities is essential. You should be a creative problem solver with a meticulous eye for detail, capable of crafting comprehensive designs and communicating effectively with Engineering, Product Owners, UX teams, and other internal stakeholders. The successful candidate will efficiently lead collaborations with existing Product Management teams and other cross-functional stakeholders, advocating for the product roadmap that addresses market, strategic, and competitive demands.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Leadership

  • Expertise in developing and managing legacy and SaaS software utilizing Agile and Scrum methodologies to streamline product development.
  • Experience with legacy enterprise software architecture and the complexities involved in creating and managing sophisticated software solutions for large enterprises.
  • Ability to articulate intricate problems and derive effective, meaningful solutions by deconstructing them into actionable product components and features.
  • Contribute to the commercial success of the solution through operational readiness planning across the four Ps (Product, Price, Place, Promotion).

Strategic Problem-Solving

  • Design and deliver intricate solutions for Project and Asset Accounting tailored for Utilities.
  • Collaborate with user experience, product teams, R&D, and other internal stakeholders to translate complex customer needs into actionable requirements.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making capabilities, making informed and timely choices that align with overall product strategy and development priorities.
  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitive landscapes, and emerging trends in the accounting software sector.
  • Encourage a collaborative and innovative work culture within the team and across the organization.

Customer Advocacy

  • Work closely with user experience and product development teams to design and deliver product capabilities that fulfill customer and market demands.
  • Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to prioritize and validate requirements for features that address key customer challenges, delivering high value in both new and legacy systems.
  • Collaborate with design teams to enhance usability and user experience of the accounting software during enhancements and next-generation solutions; conduct user discovery, design validations, user testing sessions, and beta programs.
  • Analyze and report on project progress, recommending adjustments to development plans as necessary to ensure successful product rollouts.

Product Evangelism

  • Inform customers, internal Services, Sales, and Marketing Teams through storytelling, documentation, and training sessions.
  • Communicate clearly with Sales, Services, and Marketing Teams about new product features and their associated value.
  • Lead internal training sessions, user group meetings, marketing event presentations, and content creation.
  • Act as a thought leader, representing PowerPlan at industry conferences, events, and webinars.
  • Facilitate advisory boards and other forums to gather insights, feedback, and design validations.

Regulatory Compliance Ownership

  • Understand the significance of utility accounting regulatory compliance and stay updated on industry standards, integrating them into Product and Service offerings.
  • Solicit feedback from customers and industry experts to gauge the impact of regulatory changes, understanding their needs and prioritizing necessary solutions.
  • Coordinate with internal cross-functional stakeholders to deliver compliance-ready solutions promptly, alongside effective communication and delivery strategies.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in software product management, utility industry consulting, or a similar role.
  • Proficient in Agile/Scrum methodologies and SaaS application development.
  • Skilled in executing commercial strategies for SaaS applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Strong time-management skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of PowerPlan Accounting Suite or Project and Asset Accounting Principles and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Utility and Energy sectors is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with other enterprise or accounting software.
  • Experience working with Investor-Owned Utilities.
  • Knowledge of the Pragmatic Marketing Framework is a plus.
