Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer, this role is pivotal in overseeing and directing the administrative functions, activities, services, and personnel for the County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS).

Key Responsibilities:
This position entails the development and management of strategic initiatives aimed at implementing exceptional service standards, fostering community relations, and enhancing business interactions, all with the goal of improving patient outcomes.

The incumbent will be accountable for the overall operations and associated functions of the health system, ensuring optimal conditions for the effective and efficient functioning of hospitals and clinics. This includes setting objectives and expectations that empower staff to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care and services.

Essential Duties:
- Collaborate closely with the Chief Executive Officer to achieve the strategic goals and objectives of the health system.
- Assume management responsibilities in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer.
- Lead the health system leadership team in the execution of long-term objectives, plans, policies, and strategies for growth and development.
- Oversee daily operations across all hospitals to enhance staff engagement, retention, and overall experience.
- Direct financial management activities, including budget planning and compliance.
- Cultivate partnerships with other hospitals, community organizations, and professional entities for information and service exchange.
- Adapt operational systems to meet evolving healthcare demands and regulatory requirements.
- Review reports from authorized agencies and consulting groups, taking appropriate action as necessary.
- Maintain effective relationships with medical schools and major teaching affiliates.
- Implement system changes to improve customer service and cost-effectiveness within the health system.
- Provide Custody Health Service Medical Services to various County institutions as required.

Qualifications:
Considerable training, education, and experience are necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this role. Typically, this includes:
- A Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in hospital management, particularly in senior management roles within health or hospital systems, preferably in a teaching hospital.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of health and hospital system organization and administration.
- Familiarity with regulations and laws governing hospital operations in California.
- Strong business acumen, including personnel and labor management skills.
- Proficiency in problem-solving, project management, and resourcefulness.
- Experience in finance, human resources, and strategic planning.
