We provide a range of programs including residential assistance, daily activity programs, job support, early intervention, and behavioral management.Position Overview:
We are in search of a proficient and empathetic Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to become a part of our dedicated team.
The CNS will execute vital nursing responsibilities, assign tasks, offer training, and act as a bridge between healthcare providers, individuals receiving services, and their families.
This position necessitates exceptional clinical expertise, robust organizational skills, and a dedication to delivering superior care.Core Responsibilities:
Advanced Nursing Duties:
Conduct catheterization, administer injectable medications, calculate medication dosages, manage gastric tube feedings, perform invasive and sterile procedures, and receive verbal or telephone orders from licensed prescribers.
Task Delegation:
Assign tasks to Licensed Practical Nurses and Clinical Aide personnel. Educate MAC Workers on appropriate medication administration practices.
Medication Oversight:
Review and verify medications monthly and as necessary, ensuring compliance with physicians' directives. Update Medication Administration Records (MARs) as required.
Post-Care Follow-Up:
Examine records of individuals served following hospital or clinic visits and ensure adherence to physician orders.
Staff Training:
Provide in-service training for personnel on preventive measures for communicable diseases and specific medical treatments as prescribed by physicians.
Assessment Duties:
Visit agency residences to evaluate post-hospital individuals and ensure compliance with physician orders.
Communication Role:
Act as a liaison among healthcare professionals, individuals served, and their family members.
Record Keeping:
Maintain documentation for individuals served and complete records regarding care provided. Manage monthly Medicaid billing for skilled nursing services.
Medication Oversight:
Supervise and monitor the administration of prescribed medications by unlicensed staff. Serve as an on-call nurse in the Nurse Delegation Program on a rotating schedule.
MAR Preparation:
Verify medications for community individuals and prepare MARs for daily/work programs.
Meetings and Professional Development:
Participate in in-service education programs, staff meetings, and other mandatory training sessions.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Licensure Requirements:
Must hold a Registered Nurse license issued by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Experience:
A minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred; experience in acute care is advantageous.
Skills Required:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational capabilities.
Additional Requirements:
Reliable transportation, valid Alabama driver's license, and eligibility for agency insurance.
Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting, standing, walking, pulling, restraining, and navigating stairs.
Ability to engage in outdoor physical activities and operate an Arc vehicle.
