Position Description

Position Title: MC After 3 Program Coordinator

Reports To: Directors of Elementary Education/Secondary Education

FLSA/Contract Status: Exempt

Term: 20 hours per week for up to 30 weeks

Salary: $30 per hour

Evaluation: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor(s) and in accordance with WV State Board Policy 5310 and Morgan County Board of Education.

Job Summary: Responsible for strengthening and overseeing day-to-day operations of the 21st Century Community Learning Center program with Morgan County Schools at Widmyer Elementary School, Warm Springs Middle School, and Berkeley Springs High School. The position provides leadership in creating an inviting and safe environment for academic and extra-curricular opportunities for students. The coordinator will be responsible for assuring high-quality program services and support to students and their families at three sites.

Qualifications:
  • MA or BA in a "student-related field" with five years of experience, i.e., Elementary or Secondary Education, Physical Education and Recreation, Child/Youth Development, Child Guidance/Counseling, Child Psychology, Family Studies, Social Work, Human Services, or related field
  • After school administrative experience preferred
  • Grant management experience preferred
  • Experience with budgeting, supervision, working with "at risk" youth and curriculum development preferred
  • Ability to be positive and encouraging
  • Exceptional written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities:
  • Be thoroughly familiar with and assure adherence to the approved grant contract with WVDE.
  • Lead and direct all activities of the program at the three sites.
  • Hire, schedule, train, supervise, and evaluate staff.
  • Approve and monitor expenditures in accordance with approved budget monthly.
  • Meet regularly with the site coordinators to ensure a smooth day-to-day operation of the program at all three sites.
  • Enforce program policies and procedures.
  • Create and distribute enrollment forms, emergency contact sheets and program guidelines to families and school members.
  • Ensure student/staff safety.
  • Evaluate the program and program staff using the appropriate evaluation materials.
  • Determine staff development needs in cooperation with all staff in accordance with evaluation results.
  • Arrange appropriate staff development.
  • Develop positive school day to after-school relationships.
  • Act as a liaison between the three sites, daytime schoolteachers, and the Advisory Council.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, students, staff, administration, and community partners.
  • Oversee the public relations and outreach for the program enrollment, and volunteer recruitment.
  • Monitor data and outcomes for evaluation purposes.
  • Prepare monthly reports.
  • Develop a sustainability plan and work toward program sustainability over the grant period.
  • Develop operational policies and practices for the after-school program in cooperation with staff, youth, and parents.
  • Visit each site weekly at a minimum while students are attending.
  • Be available to Site Coordinators for consultation and guidance daily.
  • Schedule formal meetings with Site Coordinators and other staff regularly.
