The Board on Aging and Long Term Care is seeking to hire two Medigap Insurance Specialist positions. Please note that this posting may be used to fill future vacancies.

These positions are headquartered in Madison WI. These positions are eligible to telecommute 3-4 days per week, upon agreement of the supervisor. This schedule may change based on operational needs and organizational requirements.

The Medigap Helpline Program offers confidential counseling service for all Medicare beneficiaries including those aged 65 and older and individuals with disabilities. The program provides counseling on topics like Medicare Supplement plans, Medicare Advantage plans and long-term care insurance. This program is independent of insurance companies and does not endorse any policy or product. The program helps Medicare beneficiaries understand their coverage options to make informed decisions based on their individual needs.

The mission of the Board on Aging and Long Term Care (BOALTC) is to advocate for the interests of the state's long term care consumers and Medicare beneficiaries, to inform consumers of their rights, and to educate the public at large about health care systems, Medicare and long-term care.

The Medigap Insurance Specialist – Helpline Counselor position provides health insurance counseling and information statewide to Medicare-eligible consumers regarding Medicare, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medigap (supplemental) policies, and other insurance options the Medicare-eligible beneficiary may have. The counselor will provide insurance counseling and information on Long Term Care insurance options. Counselor will refer consumer complaints to the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and/or the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The Counselor will assist in development of reports as requested by the Executive Director and supervisor. This position shall provide presentations and supervise informational booths for consumers.

This position is required to be licensed by the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) as an Insurance Intermediary with an emphasis on health and accident insurance and shall maintain satisfactory compliance with all continuing education requirements of licensure specified by the Commissioner. Counselors are required to complete the State Health Insurance Programs (SHIP) certification program as directed by the Administration for Community Living (ACL).

Starting hourly rate for these positions will be up to $22.52 -$25.46 per hour, plus excellent benefits. These positions are not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 12-64. A 12-month probationary period will be required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Due to the nature of the position, BOALTC will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. BOALTC does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.

Providing complex customer support such as communicating technical information, troubleshooting, researching on behalf of the customer over the phone or other formats Federal health care programs such as Medicare and its prescription options Performing data entry using a computer

Education, training, or experience presenting information to audiences of all sizes, including consumer focused presentations Education, training, or experience with the Medicare.gov prescription PlanFinder tool and other forms of prescription coverage (ie: SeniorCare, VA benefits).
