Job Summary

Rural Mutual Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Network Administrator to join our team. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our network infrastructure to ensure its reliability, performance, and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Network Design and Implementation
    • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN) to meet the needs of our organization.
    • Configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices to ensure seamless integration.
    • Monitor network performance and integrity to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    • Schedule updates and upgrades to ensure our network remains secure and up-to-date.
    • Collaborate with network architects to optimize network performance and resolve issues.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Integrate legacy systems with modern network infrastructure to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Security
    • Implement and maintain security policies and procedures to protect our network from internal and external threats.
    • Monitor network security breaches and respond to security incidents in a timely manner.
    • Ensure data and network protection through regular security audits and risk assessments.
  • Performance Monitoring
    • Regularly monitor network performance to ensure system availability and reliability.
    • Perform network diagnostics, analyze performance metrics, and report findings to management.
  • User Support and Training
    • Provide technical support and guidance to users with respect to network infrastructure.
    • Train team members on new hardware or software affecting the network.
  • Documentation
    • Maintain complete technical documentation of the network and system configuration.
    • Document incident resolutions and maintain logs of network maintenance activities.
    • Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for integrating legacy and new systems, including configuration details and troubleshooting guides.
    Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Hands-on experience with networking, routing, and switching.
    • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of network infrastructure.
    • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPNs remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
    • Ability to set up and configure server hardware.
    • Familiarity with backup and recovery software and methodologies.
    • Great at organizing, prioritizing, and multitasking.
