Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Insights Specialist to join our team at Rural Mutual Insurance. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting our product, sales, leadership, and marketing teams with actionable insights gained from analyzing company data.

The ideal candidate will be adept at using large data sets to answer complex business questions and provide strategic recommendations to drive business outcomes. They must have experience using a variety of data mining and analysis methods, as well as a range of data tools and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing strategies, and business processes.
  • Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data-gathering techniques.
  • Coordinate with functional teams to analyze trends and identify changes in the business, and develop dashboards to monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze data and data accuracy.
  • Work with a team to improve and develop data marts.
  • Update and maintain management reports.
  • Identify and design new reports.
  • Assist in the evaluation of tools to mine, analyze, and display data.
  • Review required insurance data calls.
  • Assist with data requirements for annual reinsurance submission.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Snowflake preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using data analytics tools such as R, Python, SQL, etc. to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • We're looking for someone with 2-7 years of experience manipulating data sets and analyzing data outcomes. A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field and is familiar with the following: experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages: R, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, US census data, and insurance-specific data providers.
  • Experience with different data tools such as mapping software, MySQL, PowerBi, etc.
  • Experience visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using PowerBI, Excel, mapping tools, PowerPoint, etc.
