Job Description The Lee Kay Public Shooting Range is looking for a dynamic individual to manage events, reservations, and shotgun venues. This role is perfect for those who enjoy assisting the public with shooting sports and wildlife-related recreation and helping people of all ages and backgrounds. Responsibilities include developing, planning, conducting, and coordinating events with shooting sports organizations, non-government organizations, and wildlife conservation groups. Additionally, the role involves overseeing the daily operations of the shotgun venues (trap, skeet, and 5-stand) and managing reservations for all areas of the facility.

Principal Duties As the Events/Shotgun Venue Supervisor, you will:

Oversee daily operations of shotgun venues, including opening/closing, loading houses, snow removal, running a register, customer service, and working with volunteer staff. Plan, conduct, and evaluate wildlife recreation

and shooting sports events Coordinate the facility, range and wildlife conservation schedules for events and activities hosted by non-division groups and organizations Assist in planning and carrying out public meetings, open houses and special events Develop partnerships with shooting sports organizations, non-governmental organizations, and wildlife conservation groups. Provide front counter customer service and range safety operations, as needed. Assist with facility and grounds maintenance and light housekeeping, as needed.

The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for this position will have:

A firm understanding of customer service An understanding of shooting range supervision A firm understanding of shooting event management An understanding and appreciation of the history and traditions associated with shooting sports, the Division and a recognition of how those activities support wildlife conservation The ability to communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, verbally and in writing Strong interpersonal communication abilities, which facilitate building relationships among individuals with diverse backgrounds The ability to develop creative, pragmatic ways to solve problems and improve processes A talent for being highly organized and detail-oriented

Experience overseeing the operations of a shotgun facility Experience fishing, hunting, and/or participating in shooting sports activities (e.g., archery, firearms) Experience teaching and training youth and adults Strong interpersonal communication abilities that help build trust and positive relationships with division employees, partners, members of the media, and the public Bachelor's degree in a wildlife-related natural resources field, outdoor recreation, or other related field. Five years of professional experience managing recreation programs or other related experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Working Conditions: The office setting is well-lit, heated, and ventilated, with safety measures in place for office equipment use, trip and fall prevention, and fire regulations. Employees may sit comfortably for most of the work but may need to walk, stand, bend, carry light items, or drive. There are no specific physical demands for the job. Some outdoor work may involve physical exertion, including standing, walking on rough surfaces, and working in various weather conditions, from below-freezing to over 100°F. Occasionally, lifting items to 50 pounds may be required. Special safety precautions and equipment may be needed for certain risks, such as working around firearms. The Lee Kay Public Shooting Range is open to the public from Wednesdays through Sundays, with hours that may vary depending on the season. This is a full-time position that requires work on weekends and early evenings. A valid driver's license is required for driving a motor vehicle on a highway in this state.

Driver eligibility requirements The nature of the work may occasionally require travel, both in-state and out-of-state, including overnight stays as necessary. It is essential to be able to pass a background investigation suitable for employees who work with firearms and children.
