GENERAL SUMMARY: The Officer, Event Fundraising, will play a strategic role in raising $5 million+ annually through various Red Sox-related programs, including WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, Rally Against Cancer, and Jimmy Fund Day at Fenway. As a frontline fundraiser, the Officer is responsible for revenue generation, with a focus on renewing and stewarding Rally teams, increase and renew a portfolio of $1k+ Radio-Telethon donors, and overall increasing giving to Dana-Farber. Additionally, this role will have a major focus on the logistical planning and execution of the signature event, Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, including ownership of the event's volunteer recruitment and coordination efforts. The Officer will manage a rapid flow of work with a need to toggle between long-term strategic priorities and time sensitive details. An ideal candidate will have an experience with frontline fundraising, event logistics, and passion for Dana-Farber's mission. The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role. Responsibilities PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prospect Management, Cultivation, and Solicitation Renew Rally teams and foster relationships yielding repeat donors; manage portfolio of Rally teams as assigned Oversee Radio-Telethon's pledge follow up post event to retain all donors who chose to give offline. Cultivate, solicit to renew a portfolio of $1k+ Radio-Telethon donors Event Management and Stewardship Lead Radio-Telethon's logistical event tasks (non-broadcast), including run of show, set-up, and working with various external vendors; seek guidance from Director of Event Fundraising when Serve as volunteer coordinator for Radio-Telethon and Jimmy Fund Day, including recruitment and stewardship Act as the event lead with internal Telecommunications department and IS department to ensure event needs are met and executed. Coordinate logistics for Radio-Telethon and Rally stewardship and cultivation events, including Strike Out Cancer Appreciation Night, Little League Appreciation Night, check presentations and the annual committee stewardship dinner. Draft and edit internal Radio-Telethon briefings for Institute leadership. Act as Jimmy Fund Day's recruitment coordinator for Jimmy's Team Support Director of Event Fundraising on other Radio-Telethon event tasks as assigned, such as oversight of the event budget, event day credentials, and post-event debriefs. Overall Event Fundraising Support Assist Director and Senior Assistant Director in the creation of event wrap up reports, budget reconciliation, acknowledgements, and written documentation for baseball programs. Develop a working knowledge of fundraising databases and other management information and tracking systems to effectively update and report progress toward goals; produce and update reports as needed. Other events and projects as assigned, including but not limited to assisting the Jimmy Fund/Red Sox relationship, team management of Jimmy Fund Little League, and acting as a liaison for volunteer-run events. Responsible for assisting the entire department, including other business units, reach financial goals. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Reports to the Senior Assistant Director of Event Fundraising. This position may have direct supervision of interns and volunteers, but will seek major decision-making authority from direct supervisor. However, independent decision-making on day-to-day tasks and good judgment is required. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates/bachelor's degree preferred. 3 years of professional experience required. Preferred experience in special event coordination and donor solicitation/sales with a proven track record in direct solicitation and event management.
