The University of Virginia's Corcoran Department of History has long been an anchor of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. Members of the Department are nationally and internationally recognized for their scholarship and teaching and specialize in a wide range of disciplines. Offering over 100 courses a year, the faculty teaches introductory surveys, seminars and colloquia to undergraduates and graduate students. The administrative coordinator will report to the department's finance and administration manager.

Job responsibilities include:

- For general administration (approximately 50%): may answer phones; sort mail; order supplies; place facilities maintenance work orders and maintain key inventory; prepare correspondence; maintain calendars/room reservations; arrange for meetings and events; coordinate travel arrangements; and maintain files and records. This position will have a purchase card to make purchases on behalf of department staff, faculty, and students and will expense their purchase card and place requisition orders for supplies and catering.
- For communications (approximately 25%): may maintain department social media accounts, website, print marketing materials and promotional items, electronic marketing materials, listservs, and electronic and print newsletters.
- In addition, will support the Department Chair and faculty committees (25%) with meeting arrangements, file maintenance, creation of collaborative shared sites, and other tasks, as needed.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

**Minimum Requirements**
Education: High School Diploma
Experience: At least one year of experience

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with UVA Systems (Workday, Box, Docusign, etc.).

**Physical Demands**
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. This position will require occasional evening and weekend programs.
