Job Title: Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialty

Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience required
License: Current RN License or a multistate compact RN License
Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association
Must-Have: Med/Surg experience, particularly with post-operative care, ability to manage patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT or DHT

Description:

Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Essential responsibilities include:

- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders on assigned patients.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently.
- Interact with family and patients in sharing care plans during hospital stay and at discharge.
- Inform patient and family of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.

This is a Med/Surg unit where nurses need significant Med/Surg experience as they care for patients pre or post-surgical services. Experience with ENT, transplant, and step-down care is preferred. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures, and the ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services. Good verbal and written communication skills and basic computer skills are required. An Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
