Job Title: Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialty

Job Specialty: Surgical/Transplant

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Days

Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience

License: Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association

Must-Have: Med/Surg experience; Ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors

Job Description:

- Provide nursing care in a hospital to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex under general supervision.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver competent patient care and share care plans with patients and families.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Care for post-operative patients and manage new drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, nasogastric or duodenal tubes.
- Monitor transplant patients for reaction, rejection, and infection.
- Possess knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
- Maintain good working relationships with other employees.
- Utilize basic computer skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

- ENT and/or Transplant experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program preferred.
