Job Title: Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialty

Job Specialty: Surgical/Transplant

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Day - 3x12 - 7am - 7pm

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours

Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience; ENT and/or Transplant experience preferred. Med Surg experience is essential as the role involves caring for patients post-operatively.

License: Current RN License from a State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Must-Have:
- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.

Job Description:

- Provide nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with varying health problems, from simple to complex.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and perform minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data, observe patients' physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed, and initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver competent patient care and interact with family and patients to share care plans during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures and make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff and perform other duties as assigned.
- Care for post-operative patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT, or DHT, including step-down care.

This role is suitable for nurses with the necessary Med Surg experience to handle pre and post-surgical patients and complex surgical transplant cases, requiring close monitoring for reaction, rejection, and infection.
