Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Specialty

Job Specialty: FS

Job Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Nights

Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 per week

Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience

License: Current RN License issued by the appropriate State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)

Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association

Must-Have: Med/Surg experience, particularly with inpatients pre or post-surgical services

Job Description:

- Provide nursing care in a hospital setting to patients with various health problems, from simple to complex.
- Be responsible for an assigned group of patients and document their responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments.
- Assist physicians during patient examinations and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver competent patient care and interact with families to communicate care plans during hospitalization and discharge.
- Inform patients and families about hospital procedures and make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff, ensuring efficient patient care delivery.
- Care for patients post-operatively, including managing new drains, wounds, tracheostomies, ostomies, NGT or DHT.
- Closely monitor transplant patients for reaction, rejection, and infection.
- Maintain a nursing ratio of 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for step-down care areas.

Preferred Experience: ENT and/or Transplant Experience

Skills:

- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.

Education:

- Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required.
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing preferred.
