Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Specialty

Job Specialty: FS

Job Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Night - 3x12 - 7 PM - 7 AM

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in acute care surgical floor

License: Current RN License issued by the State Board of Nursing or current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)

Certifications:
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association

Must-Have:
- Acute care surgical floor experience
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors

Job Description:

- Provide nursing care under general supervision to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex.
- Assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; note all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer medication as prescribed; initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently and interact with family and patients in sharing care plans during hospital stay and discharge.
- Inform patients and family of hospital procedures and make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff and perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

- ENT and/or Transplant Experience
- Experience with patients with new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT or DHT.
- Experience in step-down care areas and surgical transplant care.

Education:

- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from a Board Approved Program
