JOB TITLE: Clinical Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Operations Manager will play a critical role in the continuous improvement and transformation of our surgical practices. Surgery Partners is a fast-growing organization and employs over 500 physicians and Advanced Practice Providers across the country. Surgery Partners provides exceptional healthcare services across a wide range of practices and pride ourselves on our commitment to quality, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. As a Clinical Operations Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring these standards are upheld and continuously improved.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Staff Optimization: Optimize support staff roles and ratios to improve efficiency and service delivery within practices. Assess current staffing models and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Leadership Development: Support Surgery Partners practice administrative and clinical leadership in creating a "best place to work" for clinical support staff. Provide leadership training and development opportunities to ensure leaders are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge to build a cohesive and effective clinical team.
  • MIPS/VBC Workflows: Partner with Practice Transformation and local leadership to develop and optimize clinical workflows to ensure compliance with the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and other Value-based Care (VBC) programs. Train staff on quality and regulatory requirements and monitor performance to meet and exceed standards and annual quality goals.
  • Clinical policy development and enhancement: Develop and standardize clinical policies to ensure consistency across all practices. Collaborate with clinical leaders to identify areas for improvement and implement changes.
  • Practice compliance plan creation: Implement practice compliance plans to maintain our commitment to regulatory standards and best practices. Regularly review and update compliance protocols to align with current credentialing body, state, and federal regulations.
  • Patient experience augmentation: Introduce patient experience programs and tracking mechanisms to Surgery Partners practices. Work with clinical and administrative teams to elevate the quality of care and patient satisfaction. Monitor patient feedback and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Staff training and retention: Collaborate with practice leadership to develop and improve training, onboarding, and retention strategies for clinical support staff. Ensure all staff are well-trained, meeting the needs of patients, clinicians, and leaders. Develop competency assessments and training modules for ongoing staff education.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical operations management, preferably in a surgical or multi-specialty practice setting.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in healthcare.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing clinical policies and compliance plans.
  • Experience in enhancing patient experience and satisfaction.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with a proven track record of leading successful initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement and workflow optimization methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is a plus.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or a related field (Master's degree preferred). RN license required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical operations management, preferably in a surgical or multi-specialty practice setting.
