POSITION SUMMARY

The Prevention Coordinator - Counseling and Testing is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of HIV counseling and testing activities and outreach. The Prevention Coordinator recruits, coordinates, and supervises volunteers and students who provide HIV testing services. They are responsible for data management and funder reporting, in collaboration with the Quality & Evaluation Manager and Prevention Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Collaborates with Health Center staff and community partners to coordinate the provision of HIV prevention and testing services, including expanded testing
* Coordinates staff, volunteers, and interns' schedules to ensure adequate HIV testing clinic coverage
* Recruits, trains, and supervises program volunteers and students to provide HIV testing services adhering to program policies and procedures
* Manages supplies inventory for Counseling and Testing Program which includes tracking, ordering, vetting vendors, and organizing supplies for distribution
* Serves as the Prevention Program subject matter expert on rapid testing technologies and best practices in HIV counseling and testing
* Ensures the implementation of routine quality management activities concerning all program activities (i.e. client records, testing logs, lab processes, etc.) according to Kansas City Health Department and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services standards
* Oversees the accurate completion and submission of all client files, associated paperwork (i.e. scan sheets, lab requests, etc.), and ensure that all program related reports are completed and submitted to the appropriate agencies and Prevention Manager
* Coordinates Linkage to Care services with appropriate staff for all newly diagnosed HIV+ clients
* Works with the Health Center's Quality and Evaluation Department to efficiently maintain all database programs associated with HIV testing services, including the Missouri State REDCAP database and Prevention Department's Access Database
* Maintains and revises as needed a program manual relevant to HIV prevention and testing activities
* Tracks and orders testing supplies, run controls on test kits, and ensure that all testing supplies are stored according to manufacturer's instructions
* Works in collaboration with Prevention Manager to assist with the development of grant proposals and ensure that all grant related deliverables are met including budget expenditures
* Attends meetings of the Kansas City Transitional Grant Area Comprehensive HIV Prevention and Care Planning Council and Missouri Community Planning Group as well as other community meetings as appropriate
* Assist in completing assigned section of programs reports and grant narratives in a detailed and timely fashion
* Maintains patient confidentiality at all in times in accordance with HIPAA regulations

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, health education, or related field
* One year of experience coordinating programs
* Ability to work flexible schedules to attend occasional evening and weekend community events

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

* Master's degree in social work, psychology, health education, or related field
* Six months experience in healthcare, public health, or a related field
* One year experience with HIV/AIDS as well as HCV prevention experience with the priority population
* Additional certifications and education in community health
* Experience organizing and managing multiple databases

Working Conditions

General working conditions are in a healthcare facility. As such, there is a potential exposure to virus, disease, and infection from patients while performing the duties of this job. May experience traumatic situations including psychiatric traumatized and deceased patients. Travel may be expected to community meetings, client homes, or other agencies.

Physical Demands

While performing duties of this job, employees are regularly required to sit, walk, and stand; talk and hear; both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office or clinical equipment; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
