JOB DESCRIPTION: Community Prevention Specialist

This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders, including educational institutions and community service organizations, to facilitate training sessions, workshops, webinars, and public assemblies. The specialist will support the collection of programmatic data, reporting, and the continuous improvement and evaluation of services aimed at the target demographic.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and deliver educational programs for staff, students, community members, professionals, and volunteers.
  • Ensure adherence to program standards and training compliance.
  • Create and implement assessments and surveys to evaluate program effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Actively engage in and represent the organization at primary prevention speaking events.
  • Oversee program schedules and fulfill grant obligations.
  • Coordinate participation in community health fairs, open houses, and agency-wide events as assigned.
  • Maintain and update all training materials and curricula to ensure program integrity.
  • Conduct necessary assessments and surveys to measure program impact and effectiveness.

REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to perform job functions in various settings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Must demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to diverse backgrounds, including gender, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, religion, age, and sexual orientation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills is required.
  • Availability for evening and weekend meetings and events is necessary.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong time management skills to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Ability to represent Prevention Links Inc. with professionalism and uphold the agency's standards of excellence and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with all programs, grants, and projects offered by Prevention Links Inc. is necessary.
  • Adherence to administrative, reporting, and recordkeeping guidelines is required to ensure accurate documentation.
  • Participation in all mandatory training sessions is expected.
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is required.
  • Physical ability to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and/or Creole is preferred.
  • Completion of additional tasks as assigned by the Division Director, Assistant Director, or Supervising Prevention Consultant is expected.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services-related field is required, along with experience in delivering prevention-related programs. A minimum of three years of experience in a non-profit or social service environment, particularly in developing or implementing community-based services or prevention programs, is essential. Experience with evidence-based practice models and training materials is preferred; bilingual (Spanish and/or Creole) skills are advantageous.

TRAVEL: Domestic travel may be necessary for this full-time position, with local independent travel required.

EVENING AND WEEKEND AVAILABILITY: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.
