Ridgefield Academy is a Preschool - Grade 8 Independent School located 5 minutes from the center of Ridgefield, CT.  We are seeking a professional and responsible Facilities Coordinator to oversee a busy campus. In this role you will partner closely with the school’s leadership team. This is a highly visible role that interacts with students, parents, faculty, staff and visitors and is essentially the face of the school during afternoon and evening hours. This is a roll up your sleeves position, we need someone who is proactive. 

The job requirements listed below are the major duties you will perform in this role. Additional assignments may be added by your Supervisor throughout the year.

Safety & Security
  • Guard the Gate House every school day 1:30pm - 4pm. Help direct visitors to designated areas
  • Handle the security and facilities needs of the school in partnership with the maintenance team and Auxiliary Program Director
  • Set and monitor the gate house schedule,  enter the schedule into the Verkada system and communicate the schedule to school leaders
  • Regularly inspect the campus for security purposes, addressing or escalating any safety concerns

Auxiliary Programs
  • Assist the Auxiliary Program Director with communication and coordination with renters on campus
  • During summer camp, act as the primary facilities/maintenance support for summer camp needs i.e. filling water jugs, checking water slides, putting away camp supplies etc. 
  • Communicate and problem solve with renters as needed and escalate concerns to the Auxiliary Program Director
  • Monitor spaces used by renters throughout the campus and enter renter schedules into the shared calendar
  • Assist the Director of Auxiliary Programs with logistics and program development

Building & Grounds
  • Partner with the Director of Facilities for logistical/maintenance needs. Assist the maintenance team with regular logistics and maintenance duties that align with camps, clubs, extended care or rentals
  • Adhere to closing procedures to ensure campus is secure overnight and when closed
  • Interact with our cleaning crew during evening hours on any foreseen needs 
  • Set up spaces on campus for meetings and rentals including: moving chairs and tables, setting up displays and equipment, collapsing bleachers, etc. for any event that supports camps, clubs, extended care or rentals
  • Clean up after usage of rental spaces 
  • Help with weather-related clean up as needed
  • Campus oversight - Partner with the maintenance team of building and grounds
  • Manage and complete small tasks as assigned by the Director of Facilities 

Skills/Qualifications:
  • Show strong interpersonal skills to help foster solid working relationships
  • Be professional, have an engaging and friendly demeanor when interacting with the community and campus visitors
  • Be able and willing to manage the security and facilities needs of the school in partnership with the maintenance team and Auxiliary Program Director
  • Have the ability to pivot from one task to another with ease
  • Demonstrate excellent observational skills and attention to detail
  • Have problem solving skills and a can-do attitude
  • Be self motivated with the ability to work independently for long periods of time
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Have experience using technology, specifically Google Suite; experience using surveillance systems a plus
  • Previous security or guard experience recommended

This is a 12-month, benefits eligible position; Compensation is $23-$27 per hour, based on experience.

This position reports to the Director of Facilities and works very closely with the Director of Auxiliary Programs.

Hours are Wednesday - Friday 1:00pm-9:00pm and Saturday & Sunday 8am - 4pm.

This is a physically demanding position that requires frequent walking, bending, standing and a lot of movement. Candidates must be able to lift at least 35lbs.
