BACR’s Career Pathways division serves as the link to jobs, careers and post-secondary education. The Workforce Literacy Program Coordinator ensures participants have an understanding of high-growth sectors and careers, vocational training programs, and immediate employment opportunities, as well as the literacy requirements to access the careers/jobs. Program Coordinator works with participants one on one in order to create participant centered career and education plans, which are designed to help them reach the short and long-term goals that will lead to economic self-sufficiency.

Applicants should have experience serving adults over 18 years old within the following priority populations: Disconnected from education, unemployed and underemployed, immigrants, and pregnant and parenting. All applicants should be able to act with a sense of urgency, carry a caseload of up to 60 clients, should be confident with problem solving skills and be innovative in working with multi-barriered adults.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Ability to work full time (Mon-Fri, possible to work some evenings and periodic Saturdays)
  • Successful completion of Live Scan/fingerprinting (upon hire)
  • 2+ years’ experience in the workforce field
  • 2+ experience working with ELL learners
  • 3+ years’ experience working with multi barrier youth and/or adults ages 14-24 years old
  • 3+ years’ experience with workshop facilitation/lesson planning
  • Excellent organization and leadership skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work
  • Ability to problem-solve and identify priorities with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work well under pressure and seek help when needed
  • Able to work in ambiguity; innovative, flexible, nimble, self-motivated, self-directed
  • Professional technology skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and database software. Ability to scan, edit and create PDF files and experience with shared files.
  • Experience with data entry and analysis
  • Ability to be on call

Responsibilities:

Program Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Support in building out Workforce Literacy Program (WFLP) (i.e. trainings, career panels, career advisory board)
  • Point person for employment resources and opportunities in San Francisco
  • Create and refine curriculum for participants to receive training in Child development and Education (CDE) and Transportation, Driving and Logistics (TDL) career sectors
  • Represent BACR’s Career Pathways team at workforce meetings in San Francisco
  • Develop and maintain communication and positive relationships with organizations, institutes, community partners, and employers
  • Complete evaluations, reports, and assessments as required
  • Provide program updates and progress reports
  • Track and meet deadlines for submission of reports and other documentations
  • Conduct job in accordance with BACR Best Practices

Career Advising and Job Placement:

  • Utilizing work readiness assessments, create short term and long term educational and career plans
  • Meet with participant in-person on a regular basis to formally monitor progress of career action plans
  • Utilize industry standards to advise participants toward careers of interest and of growth
  • Conduct industry-focused assessments with participants to gauge their readiness in various career pathways
  • Meet frequently with case managers to ensure collaborative case planning
  • Be available for participants who have completed active participation in the program to continue and assist in job coaching and advising, as needed
  • Responsible for maintaining case notes on each client; accurately and regularly input data into Salesforce, spreadsheets and funder databases to maintain participant information in accordance with BACR’s standards and any program-specific funder(s)’ requirements
  • Participate in coordinating collaborative case conferencing sessions; facilitate phone and in person meetings between stakeholders that are each serving/supporting participants; collect status updates and additional data on participants from partners

Literacy Training Facilitation

  • Develop and implement job readiness, as well as English, numeracy, and digital literacy training curriculum tailored to the needs of diverse participant populations
  • Deliver engaging and effective training sessions in both group and one-on-one settings
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine literacy and career training programs
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training sessions, making adjustments as needed
  • Collect and analyze data on client progress and program outcomes to inform continuous improvement
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify clients' literacy levels and career aspirations
  • Create personalized action plans that integrate literacy improvement with career development
  • Provide ongoing support, encouragement, and resources to help clients meet their goals
