***The Human Resources Generalist is a part-time, non-benefited position. Qualified candidates MUST be available the following work hours:


24 hours/week – non-payroll weeks (Monday, Wednesday, Friday); 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

30 hours/week – bi-weekly payroll weeks (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday) Monday, Wednesday, Friday (8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) Tuesday (8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)


***prior payroll administration/processing experience is required; only those candidates with payroll experience will be considered

                                         

 

Position Objective:

 

The part-time Human Resources Generalist position serves as a human resources support associate in addition to the processor of bi-weekly employee payroll. This role performs a variety of functions to include (but not limited to) compilation, preparation & submission of bi-weekly payroll, personnel file management/auditing, coordination of employee onboarding/offboarding, assisting with new hire orientation/preparation, revision of forms/documents, employee performance review & attendance tracking, training portal management & employee administration within the HRIS system.

This position also assists in the planning, coordination & execution of programs, events & initiatives in conjunction with the DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access), Employee Engagement & Wellness, Trauma-informed Workforce Committees and other agency events as assigned. Finally, this role assists with other generalist responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Human Resources Partner.

Requirements:


Training/Education:

  • Bachelors’ degree in human resources, business administration or similar degree; significant experience in relevant areas may substitute for degree; SHRM-SP or SHRM-CP designation or willingness to obtain certification preferred. Prior payroll processing experience utilizing Bamboo, ADP, Kronos or similar product required.

 

Experience/Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a generalist in a multi-faceted, fast-paced human resources department with prior payroll processing experience required
  • Prior experience within a non-profit or social services organization a plus
  • Ability to accurately input & upload data within the HRIS system and complete varied generalist/administrative tasks
  • Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
  • Certified Trauma-informed Professional Certification or willingness to obtain certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws set by governing authorities and organizations
  • Proficient in HRIS software programs, preferably Bamboo or similar software package
  • Experienced in all Microsoft Office applications including ability to master required database tracking systems

Essential Functions:

 

Payroll Administration/Processing:

  • Compile, coordinate & transmit bi-weekly employee payroll
  • Enter payroll changes/updates, as-needed
  • Process employee mileage & expense reports


General HR Functions/Tasks

  • Maintain & audit employee files in accordance with local, state & federal regulations
  • Complete employee changes/updates, note entry, document upload and other tasks in Bamboo
  • Coordinate employee onboarding/offboarding
  • Assist with new hire orientation
  • Serve as a resource for employee questions/concerns
  • Assist with performance management & attendance tracking
  • Complete requests for employment verification
  • Schedule benefit meetings
  • Update documents/forms; maintain HR drive
  • Compile & distribute annual holiday PTO calendar

 

Training Portal Management (EdApp):  

  • Manages employee training portal; assigns courses to employees, tracks progress, etc.

 

Event & Program Planning, Coordination & Execution Assistance:

  • Assist with planning, coordination & execution of DEIA, Employee Engagement & Wellness, Trauma-informed Workforce, Staff Retreat, & pet therapy programs, events & initiatives

 

Culture Building/Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Access/Staff Wellness/Trauma-informed Workforce:

  • Promotes & models Horizon House’s mission, vision, values & DEIA initiatives
  • Assists Human Resources Partner with committee meeting coordination & takes/uploads minutes, as-needed

 Education/Training:

  • Attend required agency or community education/training activities
  • Assist in training new employees, community partners & interns, as appropriate. Provide peer assistance & guidance to other employees & interns, as appropriate
  • Administer employee training portal, EdApp
  • Complete Bamboo (HRIS software) training modules

 


 Hours:

  • Position requires a part-time work schedule as listed below; the Human Resources Generalist will be expected to maintain a flexible work schedule that fulfills the job responsibilities, workload & needs of the agency
  • 24 hours/week; Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • 30 hours/week; Monday, Tuesday (8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.), Wednesday, Friday (bi-weekly payroll weeks)
  • General Assistance:
  • Assists with all like duties as assigned by the Human Resources Partner; completes other duties as assigned
