Summary/Objective:

The IT Support Specialist works closely with the Systems Administrator and IT Manager to maintain and monitor Agency technology and assets, including computer systems, networks, printers, phones, and security; enforce Information Technology Policies and Procedures and ensure compliance; set up new, and manage existing, user accounts and permissions analyze workflows and suggest improvements; maintain an up-to-date inventory of all assets; and assist with software implementation, maintenance, and training.


Essential Functions:

  1. Address IT tickets and prioritize appropriately.
  2. Communicate effectively and professionally with end-users of varying experience.
  3. Utilize critical thinking skills to assist end-users experiencing technology issues.
  4. Assist in the maintenance and monitoring of agency computer systems, and networks.
  5. Assist with managing and maintaining all printers, copiers, telephone system, and security camera system.
  6. Meet with the IT Team regularly to review issues and current projects.
  7. Document changes, revisions, and problems.
  8. Install and provide technical support for all computer programs, hardware, and operating systems on both desktop and servers used by the agency.
  9. Set up new user accounts and profiles, assigning appropriate membership to groups and permissions.
  10. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of user accounts, equipment, and access.
  11. Participate in continued quality improvement.
  12. Help with hosted functions, training, and events in need of IT support.
  13. Other functions as assigned by the IT Manager.
  14. Assist with Agency’s website.
  15. Assist with Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  16. To meet agency needs, participate in on-call rotation.

Special Requirements:

Work Environment: Office environment will require occasional travel to meetings. Works in an office setting with a controlled temperature environment. Occasional exposure to inclement weather conditions may occur depending upon assignments.


Equipment: This position is required to maintain a working knowledge of related office equipment including personal computers and printers, audio-visual equipment, telephone systems, copiers, fax machines, etc.


Physical Demands: Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, push/pull, climb, bend, and stoop. Must be able to perform fine motor skills, read, and type. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

Full-time, traditional hours required along with occasionally some non-traditional hours. This position is required to work on-site, with off-site options.


Travel:

Travel is required throughout service area (Jefferson, Lewis, Oswego, and St. Lawerence County).


Requirements:

Required Education and Experience:

Associate Degree in Information Technology or related field, or two years of experience with computer systems/networking. Strong organizational skills. Working knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards and requirements for all agency hardware and software. Computer proficiency (PC computer, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Internet). Active Directory, Azure, and O365 experience.


Skills/Abilities/Knowledge:

Strong organizational abilities and office skills are essential for this position. This person must also have excellent people skills and be a team player. Ability to work with diverse populations. Must demonstrate effective and excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others. Must be detail-oriented and possess excellent time-management skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to be clear, courteous, and professional. Able to react to change productively and handle other duties as assigned. Problem analysis and problem resolution skills. Ability to assess and prioritize situations with crisis management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to address individuals associated with IT issues, as well as communicate these findings to management. Works independently and remains self-motivated with minimal direct supervision.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

Must maintain privacy of confidential information. Successful completion of routine pre-employment requirements as mandated by the New York State Department of Health, Office of Mental Health and Office of Children and Family Services along with ongoing clearances and exclusion checks. These requirements are to include employment health requirements, reference checks, criminal background checks/fingerprinting, State Central Registry clearance and your eligibility to work in the United States. A valid NYS driver’s license required. Corporate Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Security, and Workplace Harassment and Discrimination Training and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, First Aid and CPR will be required following date of hire.
