Unavailable Pharmacy is seeking a reliable and dedicated Licensed Pharmacy Support Specialist to positively impact the lives of our residents in long-term care and assisted living environments. This is a FULL-TIME, on-site role.

Role Overview:

  • The Licensed Pharmacy Support Specialist is tasked with assisting Pharmacists in the preparation, coordination, and distribution of medications.

Work Schedule: Rotating shifts (7am-3pm, 2pm-10pm on weekdays; 9am-5pm on weekends)

Weekend shifts are rotating, but flexibility is available.

Key Responsibilities

Licensed Pharmacy Support Specialist Duties:

  • Accurately fills prescriptions, utilizing computer-generated labels and completing packing labels and auxiliary labels to ensure proper dispensing.
  • Removes labels from printers for new and refill prescription orders, and retrieves appropriate medications from shelves.
  • Places products in designated areas for Pharmacists to verify before delivery.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in dispensing, inventory, storeroom, office, and other workspaces.
  • Receives and restocks inventory upon order arrival from wholesalers or manufacturers (excluding controlled substances).
  • Reorders products using the wholesaler's system as directed.
  • Operates TCGRX machines for filling cycle and new admission orders.
  • Interprets the Dashboard to understand delivery requirements.
  • Packs and organizes facility orders for delivery to drivers as needed.
  • Maintains refrigerator temperature logs and alerts supervisors of any deviations.
  • Rotates stock when organizing wholesaler orders.
  • Timely refills emergency boxes, antibiotic, and hydration totes.
  • Clears work areas of waste and confidential information daily.
  • Checks for expired items and places them in the return area for credit and disposal.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of all policies and procedures and can reference them as needed.
  • Maintains required certifications, participates in training, and stays updated on best practices and equipment operations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications

Licensed Pharmacy Support Specialist Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old; high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification is mandatory.
  • Employment Certificate/Permit required for applicable individuals.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy terminology through certification or relevant experience in a pharmacy setting preferred.
  • This role requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors. To ensure a safe environment, the employee must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or advanced level.
