Job DescriptionJob Description

SUMMARY: Responsible for the daily accounting functions of accounts receivable, including processing cash receipts and providing administrative support for the accounting team in all McNees locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: "Essential functions" are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

  • Open, organize and distribute mail to appropriate personnel
  • Process and post client payments – checks, ACH, credit cards, etc. to their accounts
  • Work with and communicate regularly with timekeepers and clients to ensure accurate application of cash
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closings tasks
  • Assist management team with special projects related to entry level accounting functions
  • Prepare timely periodic and ad hoc reports as requested by management
  • Prepare and collect information for the annual review, performed by a third-party CPA Firm.
  • Provide administrative support to the accounting team, including file management, mail distribution, and data entry.

  • Maintain confidentiality in handling and processing of all sensitive and/or pay-related employee data
  • Utilize the firm-selected technology to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting or related field with 1-3 years of experience processing cash receipts, accounts receivable, or accounting related functions, or a combination of education and experience will be considered; law firm experience a plus
  • General accounting knowledge is required, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; Aderant Classic software experience is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem resolution skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to be detail-oriented for completion of complex assignments. Ability to be proactive with accounting requests and tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, extreme temperature and the like.
