Accounts Receivable Specialist

SUMMARY: Responsible for the daily accounting functions of accounts receivable, including processing cash receipts and providing administrative support for the accounting team in all McNees locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: "Essential functions" are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.
- Open, organize and distribute mail to appropriate personnel
- Process and post client payments – checks, ACH, credit cards, etc. to their accounts
- Work with and communicate regularly with timekeepers and clients to ensure accurate application of cash
- Assist in month-end and year-end closings tasks
- Assist management team with special projects related to entry level accounting functions
- Prepare timely periodic and ad hoc reports as requested by management
- Prepare and collect information for the annual review, performed by a third-party CPA Firm.
- Provide administrative support to the accounting team, including file management, mail distribution, and data entry.
- Maintain confidentiality in handling and processing of all sensitive and/or pay-related employee data
- Utilize the firm-selected technology to ensure all transactions are processed accurately and timely
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Associates Degree in Accounting or related field with 1-3 years of experience processing cash receipts, accounts receivable, or accounting related functions, or a combination of education and experience will be considered; law firm experience a plus
- General accounting knowledge is required, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; Aderant Classic software experience is a plus
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem resolution skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism with all levels of staff, clients, and vendors.
- Ability to be detail-oriented for completion of complex assignments. Ability to be proactive with accounting requests and tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Normal law office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, extreme temperature and the like.
