Position Summary:

The Credit and Collections Specialist will oversee the management of the company’s accounts receivable. Key responsibilities include evaluating customer credit applications, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices, reconciling customer deductions, and maintaining precise records of accounts receivable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, investigate, and process new credit applications, making informed decisions on approvals or declines.
  • Conduct regular reviews of credit limits and statuses using database subscriptions to mitigate financial risks associated with existing accounts.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive customer file records.
  • Recommend accounts for collection, negotiate payment plans, and manage bankruptcy proceedings in collaboration with the Finance Manager.
  • Review customer records for applicable service charges.
  • Address and resolve customer billing inquiries through effective communication with clients and sales teams.
  • Monitor open order status queues to manage hold orders efficiently.
  • Process credit card transactions and online invoicing through customer portals.
  • Identify and rectify remittance discrepancies.
  • Maintain tax records for tax-exempt customers.
  • Ensure electronic maintenance of customer records and assist with annual audit processes.
  • Engage in local credit management groups for professional development.

Work Environment:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an accounts receivable role is preferred.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provide backup support for the Accounts Receivable Specialist.
  • Assist management and team members as needed.
