Job Scope

Opla is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the VP of Business Development, the chosen candidate will be tasked with presenting, promoting, and selling Opla Energy Services' products and services with a technical focus. This role also involves managing existing customer accounts and acquiring new ones.


Qualification/Requirements/Education

  • Experience in MPD Engineering or a related field, spanning 2-5 years, covering regions throughout the US and Canada.
  • A proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key buyers and decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand the client’s needs and expectations, mitigate and close out any issues promptly that arise with little to no supervision – Be a great decision maker.
  • Promote company services, products, and technology.
  • Previous experience in sales pipeline management, adept use of CRM systems, and strong forecasting skills are advantageous, although not mandatory as training will be provided.
  • Proficient use of standard Microsoft Office tools (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Effective formal presentation skills in one-on-one, small and large group settings.
  • Willing to travel and occasional travel to remote locations or outside of the country may be required.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal & leadership skills.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to work well within a team.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Lives in the Houston OR Odessa/Midland Texas area.


Duties and Responsibilities (Include The Following, However, Other Duties May Apply)

  • This role will successfully develop, nurture, and maintain current clients at the rig site and corporate office locations.
  • Customer Focus: Understands the importance of customer needs, whether internal or external, focuses on responding to them, and develops relationships.
  • Attend events for customer appreciation events i.e. Cookouts, Golf Tournaments, Etc.
  • Ensure daily ticketing and customer pricing align in the OWS ticketing system.
  • Be available to address customers' inquiries regarding technical aspects of equipment, pricing/ticketing, and equipment logistics.
  • Attend pre-well spud meetings of existing clients. Participating in client meetings, presentations, training sessions, and providing technical support to the Sales team.
  • Attend and be actively involved in Industry events and trade shows, i.e. AADE, IADC, and SPE events.
  • Visit client locations to ensure their needs are being met or exceeded, and report findings to the Opla management team.
  • Work with the VP of BD to meet and exceed revenue budgets, all while maintaining company procedures and standards.
  • Monitors and achieves sales revenue volumes against budgeted targets, monitors forecast, and manages pipeline and other sales information that is significant to Opla’s business.
  • Accurate and timely CRM usage and management.
  • Heightens the profile of Opla in their markets by building and creating recognition as an industry leader in innovation and progressive product solutions.
  • Collaborate with the wider sales, marketing, and operations teams to work all opportunities into valuable agreements to our customers and Opla.
  • Assist in Mentoring Junior Sales Representatives/Account Managers.
  • Provide sales assistance to the VP of BD when required.
