Reliability & Safety Engineer

The Reliability & Safety Engineer will support the Mar Controls contract in Montville, NJ or as a remote employee. The Sr. Reliability and Safety Engineer will be responsible for system safety assessment, reliability predictions and failure mode analyses required for new development programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with IPT to identify safety critical items, any non-conformances, and offer design alternatives.
- Generate reliability, maintainability and system safety reports for IPT and customer review.
- Perform system safety analyses per MIL-STD-882 and SAE ARP4761.
- Perform maintainability analyses per MIL-STD-470.
- Perform reliability predictions per MIL-HDBK-217.
- Review customer reliability, safety and maintainability requirements and provide RMS/C analysis.
- Consider and balance cost, technical, schedule, and risk.
- Other duties as assigned.

- This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
- This position requires a Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Must have 3+ YEARS of recent and related work experience in similar role within the aerospace industry which must include reliability, maintainability and safety engineering analysis.
- New product development experience in aerospace/military industry.
- Ability to effectively communicate, plan, organize work on one or more projects concurrently.
- Experience in electromechanical design and testing preferred.
- Strong documentation and writing skills.
- Experience using reliability analysis tools like Relex, Weibull ++, Reliasoft XFRACAS.
WORK LOCATION:
- This position is a remote position, but some travel may be required.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:
All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, some positions require a clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.
DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:
All Bastion employees must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen; some contracts require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol screening programs.
STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- All of Bastion's employees must be team players.
- Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
- Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
- Must have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.
- Must be organized with good time management skills.
- Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
- Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
