Position Overview

The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting quality initiatives across programs, ensuring that both the Supply Chain and internal production processes adhere to stringent quality standards. This position involves leading root cause analyses, implementing corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement efforts while effectively communicating results to customers and senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate procedures based on various industry and aerospace standards.
  • Analyze and resolve production issues collaboratively.
  • Act as the Quality representative for programs and customers.
  • Review and assess technical drawings and best practices.
  • Approve and coordinate First Article Inspections (FAIs).
  • Facilitate in-process product evaluations.
  • Prepare and review Acceptance Data Packages.
  • Support both internal and customer audits.
  • Address customer inquiries, including warranty requests, and lead corrective action initiatives.
  • Collaborate on Risk Analysis and Mitigation strategies.
  • Encourage the application of Quality tools such as SPC, PFMEA, and MSA to minimize variability.
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives related to scrap and rework.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams and suppliers on Quality System requirements and corrective actions.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely closure of initiatives through effective collaboration.
  • Maintain strong relationships with various departments including Business Development, Engineering, and Operations.
  • Adhere to safety, quality, and company policies to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Keep management updated on significant activities and challenges.
  • Ensure a clean and secure work environment.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Work Environment

  • This role involves both office and manufacturing environments, utilizing standard office equipment and safety gear as necessary.
  • This is a full-time position, with potential overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Some travel may be necessary for this role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience in a quality-related role, or relevant internship experience for recent graduates.
  • Experience in data analysis and procedure documentation is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret Military and Commercial specifications.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such as AS9100 and ISO9001.
  • Knowledge of critical processes including soldering and non-destructive testing.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with all organizational levels and external partners.
  • Proficient in MS Office and relevant software tools.
  • Eligibility to obtain a security clearance is required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, with passing vision screening.
  • Frequent reaching and handling of materials is necessary.
  • Regular movement within the facility is expected.
  • Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds may be required.
