Boston, United States Everyday Boston Full time

Are you looking for a job that gets you out into the community, building relationships with your neighbors, and helping to bridge divides in our city?

Then come work with Everyday Boston We’re looking for a highly organized person with a big heart and an eye for details to help manage the day-to-day implementation of our community programs. This person will have the opportunity to work with our Bridge Project Members, youth, volunteers, community members, and everyday Bostonians.

What is Everyday Boston?

We’re a small but mighty nonprofit that believes in the power of sharing stories to break down stereotypes and bring people together. Through workshops, events, and story collecting projects, we help people develop the communication skills they need to connect with each other–and then we give them opportunities to sit down, share life stories, and understand each other as neighbors. (Watch this 3-min video about our work)

Since our launch six years ago, we’ve partnered with community-based organizations, educational institutions, major corporations, and health care providers to advance our mission to make Boston the most connected city in America. Everyday Boston is at an exciting moment, the Program Coordinator will have a unique opportunity to be a part of designing and planning the organization’s future programming.

Maybe you’ve seen us in your neighborhood running our Conversation Stations. Maybe you know an elder we interviewed by phone during the pandemic. Maybe you’ve participated in our workplace training, or our story collecting project on medical mistrust. Through these and other initiatives, our work strengthens curiosity and connection across the city of Boston.

Everyday Boston is ready and excited to grow, and we’re looking for a Program Coordinator to grow with us. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of designing and planning the organization’s future programming.

What are the job responsibilities?

As Program Coordinator you’ll be an integral part of our team responsible for coordinating logistics for our community programs. You’ll work closely with people of different ages and backgrounds to execute the organization’s vision, as well as Everyday Boston’s Founder/Creative Director and Executive Director.

  • Manage staffing and material logistics for community and virtual programs
  • Take/share photos and video
  • Volunteer Coordination
  • Ensure proper record keeping and data entry for program tracking and evaluation
  • Coordinate and support story collecting projects
  • Contribute to social media postings
  • Design program materials on Canva
  • Do you have special skills and talents that you could bring to Everyday Boston? Other opportunities could include video editing, website management, social media strategy, co-facilitating workshops etc…

What are we looking for in an applicant?

The ideal candidate is a natural community builder who wants to help grow our grassroots movement to make Boston the most connected city in America. They have roots in the city and:

  • Believe wholeheartedly in Everyday Boston’s mission
  • Enjoy learning about and connecting with people from all walks of life (EB works with everyone, but has a focus on working with formerly incarcerated people, youth, and older adults)
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Are organized, disciplined, and able to work independently
  • Are flexible and patient
  • Know that asking for help is essential to being great at anything
  • Are eager to learn from others–and to teach others
  • Comfort in using technology (we use Slack, Asana, Google Suite, Zoom, GiveButter)
  • Treat people with kindness and have a sense of humor

Everyone on this planet is a work in progress, so if you don’t have everything on this list but think you’d be a great fit, we want to hear from you

Note: This role will require you to travel around Greater Boston, either by public transportation or with your own form of transportation. Because of the nature and frequency of programming, we have a strong preference for candidates who live in the City of Boston.

Schedule

Typical hours are M-F 9-5. Some nights and weekends are required for programming. The team currently meets in person one day a week in the South End. Programs and community meetings require you to be in person several days a week.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion is at the heart of everything Everyday Boston does. Our mission relies on it. We are deeply committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. We are an equal opportunity employer.
