Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

Technical Field Support personnel provide after the sale product training, new product introduction, in the field product support and the gathering of competitive information in the support of Corning Optical Communications Sales, Marketing and PLM groups while promoting Corning Optical Communications Quality policies for all customers of Corning Optical Communications in their specific territories.

Major Responsibilities:


• Provide after the sale training and field support of Corning Optical Communications products.


• Provide support to Corning Optical Communications Sales during standardization processes.


• Actively pursue competitive information and report back to Sales.


• Document product usage and trends in customer locations.


• Support field trials during product evaluations.


• Support Sales for presentations and trade shows as required.


• Adhere to budgetary constraints and document all expenses.


• Exemplify the Quality Policies of Corning Optical Communications to all internal and external customers.


• Extensive travel.

Required Qualifications:


• Requires Technical degree or equivalent work experience.


• Minimum of 3 years' experience in the telephony industry or an equivalent technical training/support field.


• Possess a driver's license and be insurable.


• Computer literate.


• Work independently with little or no supervision.


• Able and willing to travel 50% of the time.


• Interface and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.


• Prioritize multiple tasks and manage to completion.


• Take ownership of tasks and projects and manage to completion on time, every time – both short- and long-term projects.


• Work effectively as a team member, leader and facilitator.

Desired Qualifications:


• Traveling experience, a plus.


• Fluent in English (verbal and written).


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel


• Knowledge of Corning Optical Communications products a plus.

The range for this position is $35 - $40 hourly rate.
