Under the guidance of the Director of the Center for Student Success and Academic Excellence, the Academic Support Specialist aids undergraduate learners in enhancing their skills in coursework and assists them in integrating and applying strategies for academic success tailored to their specific subjects.
The Specialist collaborates with students across various programs utilizing diverse and innovative tutoring approaches that promote self-advocacy, foster academic independence, and facilitate connections to resources while enhancing engagement with course material.
Funding StatusThis is a grant-supported position.
Qualifications Required
A Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field is mandatory. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in tutoring college-level foundational mathematics, advanced mathematics, and statistics courses is essential. Candidates must possess the ability to interpret and understand mathematical problems and concepts, as well as effectively communicate mathematical knowledge to students. Familiarity with EAB Navigate is highly preferred. Demonstrated mastery of specific course content is required, which can be validated through transcript evaluation and/or professional certifications. Candidates must be willing and able to work evenings as necessary.
Important Note:
The work is conducted in person and on campus. This position does not allow for remote work.
