Description

PS Technology Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad Company, is looking to fill a Senior Systems Engineer position in Louisville, CO. May telecommute up to 50% of work time. This job is a technical position that will be architecting software solutions in several domains and will be providing architecture guidance to several software development teams.

Accountabilities
  • Improve upon current practices and procedures using innovative ideas.
  • Prioritize workload and deviate from procedures to meet and exceed expectations with little oversight.
  • Make policy recommendations to achieve maximum efficiency in the role.
  • Share responsibility and maintain clear communication regarding decisions and assignments within projects with peers.
  • Understand and integrate software solutions in a multi-system environment, providing a seamless look to the customer.
  • Troubleshoot existing technical solutions to resolve issues quickly and minimize the negative impact.
  • Keep up with ever-changing technology by researching industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Required
  • Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent accepted) in computer science, computer engineering, management information systems, or a related field of study.
  • Three (3) years of experience in information technology or a related occupation.
  • Experience with service-oriented and event-driven architecture implementations.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in large, distributed systems.
  • Experience in developing multiple-layer web applications including database access, java RESTful services, and Angular front end.
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Spring.
  • Experience with open-source technologies Apache, JBoss, SVN, GIT, and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Jenkins or similar tools (Continuous integration, delivery, and automation).
  • Experience in application performance tuning including coding techniques, architecture changes, database tuning, etc.
  • Experience training and mentoring peers to improve their technical and architectural skills.
  • Able to work well with and lead other people as part of a geographically diverse development team.
  • Able to travel to customer locations on demand.
  • Knowledge of multiple customer business processes and understanding of how systems impact those processes.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and development techniques.
  • Exhibit the following: Subject-matter expertise along with time management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exhibit the following: Technical proficiency in database design development, data models, techniques for data mining, and segmentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation, crew, and timekeeping.
  • Knowledge of CrewPro.
  • Experience implementing working solutions in OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Java, Spring, Angular, etc.
  • Experience implementing SaaS-based solutions across different cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Oracle Cloud, GCP, AWS).
  • Experience following Agile the methodology.
  • Able to develop implementations for cloud & micro-services architectures and frameworks; regularly develop frameworks, pipeline scripts, cloud CLI scripts, and how-to snippets (Java, Spring, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.) as part of the migration.
  • Exhibit the following: Fully hands-on in analysis, design, development, and testing of Spring, Spring Boot, Java, Jenkins, Maven, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Angular, CSS, HTML, JUnit, Mockito, JMeter, Acceptance Testing, DevSecOps, DevOps, CI/CD, Sonar, Agile, Rest Assured, Microservices design, and Cloud architectures.
  • Must pass background check investigation and medical review.
