Compliance Data Model Validation Assistant Vice President

As a Barclays Compliance Data Model Validation Assistant Vice President (AVP), you will be responsible for Model Risk Management (MRM) with accountability to management and Board of the firm for review and challenge of models and assumptions drives non-model methods (NMM) to ensure compliance of the model risk measurement and management. These models/frameworks are important for business management of the Barclays Group, its legal entities, and to meet requirements for validation of these models.

What will you be doing?


• Performing technical analysis, data analysis, benchmarking, build challenger models (if needed) to support the model validation and challenge processes

• Being responsible for challenging stakeholders if needed and open to challenges

• Taking responsibility for reviewing on model issues and/or seek direction on these views

• Ensuring models meeting all governance requirements with meeting timely project delivery

• Producing high quality model validation reports, with a particular focus on noting limitations, weaknesses, and assumptions

• Studying of developments in modelling and validation techniques and regulatory guidelines as well as new analytical tools

• Providing input to/support the governance and reporting processes related to model risk management, and this role will be part of the MRM team

• Being responsible for contributing to internal and external technical presentations to enhance the team development

What we're looking for?


• Advanced understanding of the quantitative techniques used in developing and validating Compliance models including Financial Crime and Transaction Monitoring

• Familiarity with or understanding of Anti Money Laundering, Market/Trade Surveillance, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and decision trees & cluster analysis

• Understanding and prior work experience in financial crime typologies (transaction monitoring and market/trade surveillance) and Microsoft Office and Excel

• Analytical skills with hands-on experience developing or validating predictive machine learning models on data sets in Hadoop/AWS environments using Python, R. and SAS

Skills that will help you in the role:


• Masters in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operational Research, Engineering, and MBA

• PhD in quantitative fields, such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Operational Research, Finance, and Economics

• Experience in model development, monitoring, validation or understanding of model risk and assessment techniques and predictive modelling

• Familiarity with and understanding of generative AI/Large language model is a plus and ability to work in a high performing team and liaison with others in a diverse team
