Role Summary

As a key member of the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs team, the Regulatory Compliance Engineer will be responsible for providing essential licensing support, primarily focused on the development of licensing applications for proposed uranium enrichment production facilities. This role requires close collaboration with various teams, including engineering, modeling/simulation, safety analysis, civil structural engineering, and technology development, to ensure that all regulatory requirements are identified and effectively integrated into GLE's licensing strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine content for licensing documents, programs, and associated products.
  • Assist in the planning, development, and defense of GLE's licensing applications.
  • Support regulatory activities including certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses related to the Paducah Laser Enrichment Facility (PLEF), ensuring that all milestones are achieved in alignment with U.S. NRC expectations.
  • Provide regulatory guidance to engineering teams to establish technical requirements that comply with NRC regulations.
  • Engage with regulatory project managers to implement the regulatory engagement plan, negotiate review timelines, and support audits and Requests for Additional Information (RAIs).
  • Draft regulatory responses and ensure timely submission in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of GLE's regulatory strategy.
  • Prepare regulatory white papers and technical reports related to licensing.
  • Assist in the formulation of licensing and regulatory budgets and planning.
  • Promote a robust nuclear safety culture and ensure quality integration in licensing processes, adhering to GLE's Quality Assurance Program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. NRC Q-level clearance.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Nuclear Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience in the nuclear sector and familiarity with nuclear licensing processes.
  • Experience in direct interactions with the NRC, both written and verbal.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven project management capabilities to coordinate team efforts and develop schedules for regulatory documentation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce technical content for regulatory purposes.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant software applications.
  • Capability to communicate solutions to technical challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possession of U.S. NRC/DOE Q-level clearance or equivalent (DOD Top Secret).
  • Experience in the 10.CFR.70 nuclear industry and licensing is highly desirable.
