Social Worker Supervisor, Criminal Justice is the first line supervisor level\r
of professional social work providing expert clinical, therapeutic and forensic\r
social work services in an indigent, criminal justice� environment.\r
Employees in this classification will work in a criminal justice environment,\r
and provide clinical, forensic services to clients who have demonstrated a need\r
for rehabilitative intervention because of psychological distress, psychosocial\r
factors relating to mental health disorders and or co-existing mental health,\r
substance abuse or other social adjustment factors.\r

Employees\r
in this classification provide clinical and administrative supervision to LMSWs\r
and case work specialists for forensic social work services, including the\r
review and completion of biopsychosocial evaluations, the development of\r
diagnostic impressions, mental health assessments, and linkage to\r
evidence-based therapeutic interventions to clients charged with crimes or\r
delinquent offenses.�\r

The Office of the Public Defender is seeking a\r
social work supervisor who is a licensed certified social\r
worker - clinical (LCSW-C) with a\r
Board Approved Supervisor Certification to serve as the supervisor to social\r
workers and care coordinators on various grants focused on mitigating the sentencing of OPD\r
clients. The employee provides clinical and administrative oversight and\r
supports the lower level social workers in developing alternative sentencing plans and clinical strategies\r
with Assistant Public Defenders for the legal disposition of criminal or\r
delinquent cases.� Employees in this classification supervise grant staff\r
across the state.�\r

Main Purpose of Job

The Grant Social Work\r
Supervisor will provide clinical and programmatic supervision to LMSW-level\r
social workers on several grants seeking to connect clients with community-based services in lieu\r
of incarceration.� The supervisor will also serve as a member of the\r
project leadership team for these grants, participating in planning and\r
oversight activities.��\r
Duties and\r
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:\r

Supervise\r
social workers conducting screenings, assessments, and developing\r
treatment plans for eligible clients.\r
Supervise care\r
coordinators developing nonclinical service plans, securing referrals to\r
services, and providing ongoing support.\r
Serve on the\r
leadership team of applicable grants, and engage in hiring and planning\r
efforts.\r
Participate in\r
meetings with grant officers, potential funders, and other stakeholders.\r
Assist with\r
data collection, analysis, and reporting obligations.�\r

MSW degree in social\r
work and licensed as an LCSW-C in Maryland\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers. \r
Experience: Four years of experience providing clinical and therapeutic services through the application of the principles, methods and procedures of professional social work to clients requiring rehabilitative counseling or forensic social work services, including eighteen months of experience completing assessments, formulating diagnostic impressions, treating behavioral health diagnoses and other conditions or providing psychotherapy as a certified social worker-clinical. \r
Notes: \r
1. Candidates may substitute a Doctorate degree in social work from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience. \r
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at the rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in Social Science, Psychology or Welfare fields of work for the required experience.\r

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Currently licensed as an LCSW-C.\r
Background and experience in child\r
welfare and/or forensic social work.\r
Experience supervising social workers,\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.�Employees in this classification must have a license as a Master Social Worker (approved for independent practice), Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker-Clinical issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.\r
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees are required to meet mandatory standards for continuing education as determined by the hiring department. Employees who fail to obtain the required continuing education credits shall be subject to disciplinary action including demotion, suspension or dismissal. \r
2. Employees of the Department of�Juvenile Services must complete an approved training program in group counseling techniques. \r
3. Employees of the Department of�Juvenile Services may be required to complete the Level I Counseling course of the Maryland AIDS Professional Education Center. \r
4. Employees of the Department of�Juvenile Services must qualify for and successfully complete the Entry Level Training Academy operated by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. \r
5. Employees of the Department of�Juvenile Services are required to complete the Correctional First Line Supervisors Training within one year of appointment.\r

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r
Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r
