Role Summary:
The Climate Justice Training Manager is responsible for crafting and executing a climate justice educational curriculum tailored for CASA members, organizers, and allied staff in both Spanish and English. This role involves collaboration with the Director of Community Leadership and the Chief of Organizing to develop both general training materials and campaign-specific educational resources that support climate justice initiatives, utilizing various formats including in-person sessions, printed materials, and digital platforms. All educational content must align with CASA's mission, vision, and values, actively reflecting our commitment to anti-racism and gender equity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and sustain a foundational climate justice training curriculum utilizing popular education techniques, while facilitating ongoing train-the-trainer sessions to ensure all member activists, organizers, staff, and board members share a unified understanding of climate justice in relation to CASA's mission.
- Create climate justice curricula and training resources to bolster CASA's local, state, and national climate justice campaigns.
- Produce supplementary informational materials to aid climate justice initiatives, collaborating with organizing, communications, and policy teams.
- Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team supporting CASA's climate justice efforts, engaging with external coalitions, funders, researchers, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the data and evaluation team to develop assessment tools to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of all training programs.
- Assist the Director of Community Leadership in the creation and execution of broader political education and campaign materials to support ongoing or new organizing efforts.
- Monitor, analyze, and synthesize outcomes from the leadership development program.
- Facilitate outreach and logistics for both internal and external training sessions, including member training, train-the-trainer workshops, partner gatherings, and online or video training.
- Ensure that program and grant deliverables are collected and reported accurately and promptly.
- Supervise staff, volunteers, and consultants, ensuring adherence to professional development opportunities and HR policies.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key national, state, and local partners.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor related to the position.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience in climate justice advocacy, popular education, or related progressive movement work.
- A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Education, or a related field focused on program or curriculum design is preferred.
- A valid US driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A strong passion for Climate or Environmental Justice.
- A deep commitment to anti-racism and gender equity.
- Familiarity with educational theory and curriculum development.
- Experience in facilitating both in-person and digital training sessions.
- Exceptional writing and speaking skills in both English and Spanish; proficiency in additional languages is advantageous.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, while fostering cooperative working relationships.
- Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple ongoing projects.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Readiness to travel regularly to support CASA teams across various states, as well as occasionally to assist external partners.
- A passionate, idealistic, progressive, and pro-immigrant mindset is essential, along with integrity, a positive attitude, and self-direction.
- A comprehensive understanding of the organizing, policy, and social justice landscape.
- Cultural agility and experience in applying an anti-oppressive framework to work.
- Experience in planning large-scale events is a plus.
