POSITION SUMMARY:

The Climate Justice Education Coordinator will be responsible for creating and executing a climate justice educational curriculum tailored for CASA members, organizers, and other stakeholders in both Spanish and English. This role involves collaborating with the Director of Community Leadership and the Chief of Organizing to develop both general training materials and campaign-specific educational resources that support climate justice initiatives, utilizing various formats including in-person sessions, printed materials, and digital platforms. All educational content must align with CASA's mission, vision, and values, actively reflecting our commitment to anti-racism and gender equity.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and uphold a foundational climate justice training curriculum employing popular education techniques, while facilitating ongoing train-the-trainer sessions to ensure all member activists, organizers, staff, and board members share a unified understanding of climate justice and its connection to CASA's mission.
  • Create climate justice curricula and training resources that bolster CASA's local, state, and national climate justice initiatives.
  • Produce supplementary informational materials to support climate justice campaigns in collaboration with organizing, communications, and policy teams.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team to advance CASA's climate justice efforts, including collaboration with external coalitions, funders, researchers, and other partners.
  • Collaborate with the data and evaluation team to develop assessment tools to track and measure the outcomes and impacts of all training programs.
  • Assist the Director of Community Leadership in crafting and executing broader political education and campaign materials to support ongoing or new organizing efforts and priority issues.
  • Monitor, analyze, and synthesize results from the leadership development program.
  • Support outreach and logistical arrangements for both internal and external training sessions, including member training, train-the-trainer workshops, partner gatherings, and online or video training.
  • Ensure that program and grant deliverables are collected and reported accurately and punctually.
  • Oversee staff, volunteers, and consultants, ensuring professional development opportunities are provided and adherence to HR policies.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with key national, state, and local partners.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:

  • At least two years of experience in climate justice organizing, popular education, or related progressive movement work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Education, or a related field in program or curriculum design is preferred.
  • Valid US driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong passion for Climate or Environmental Justice.
  • Deep commitment to Anti-racism and Gender Equity.
  • Familiarity with educational theory and curriculum development.
  • Experience in facilitating both in-person and digital training sessions.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, while establishing cooperative working relationships.
  • Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple ongoing projects.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to support CASA teams across various states and occasionally to assist external partners.
  • Passion, idealism, and a progressive, pro-immigrant stance are essential.
  • In-depth knowledge of the organizing, policy, and social justice landscape.
  • Cultural agility and experience in applying an anti-oppressive framework to work.
  • Experience in planning large-scale events is advantageous.
