Farm Equipment Operator

Welcome to A&W Farm Operations We're hiring a Farm Equipment Operator to join our team in Cambridge, IA (about 20 miles southeast of Ames). In this role you will be operating and performing maintenance on various types of farm equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, combines, etc. We are a leading player in the agriculture sector, specializing in a diverse range of crops including organic and non-organic corn, soybeans, wheat, oats, sunflowers, field peas, hemp, rye, and kernza.
We manage a substantial 2,850 acres of farmland and operate a small-scale, grass-fed cattle operation with custom grazing services. With three building locations and five bin sites, our farm is dedicated to maintaining high standards of morals, integrity, and work ethic. We prioritize a safe and flexible work environment to balance quality of life with the timely completion of tasks.
We offer competitive compensation $28-$32 per hour depending on experience, paid vacation, company vehicle, income sharing, and retirement options.
What you will be doing:
- Operating various types of farm equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, combines, etc.
- Operate tractors for tillage practices, planting, and manure application.
- Utilize sprayers to apply biological nutrients across fields.
- Manage combines for harvesting wheat, oats, sunflowers, corn, and soybeans.
- Drive semi-trailers with hopper bottoms for transporting grain from fields to storage bins and elevators.
- Operate precision farming equipment in tractors, combines, and sprayers.
- Perform minor mechanical repairs and maintenance on farm and agriculture equipment.
- Execute other farm-related duties as needed to support farm operations.
This job is for you if you have:
- Valid Class A CDL with experience operating semi-trailers.
- Proven experience in operating large farm equipment.
- Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to work flexible hours and longer shifts during peak seasons.
- Strong work ethic, loyalty, and adaptability to changing working conditions.
- Self-starter with a genuine interest in production agriculture.
- Capability to learn new skills and contribute positively to the team.
