Laboratory Operations Supervisor

A clinical-stage biotechnology firm is seeking a Laboratory Operations Supervisor to oversee essential laboratory functions. This role involves close collaboration with scientific teams and various stakeholders to ensure seamless laboratory management, compliance with regulations, vendor interactions, and effective inventory oversight. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee laboratory and office materials to guarantee efficient company operations, including ordering, inventory management, receiving, shipping, and organizing supplies, as well as managing biohazard waste and gas tank changes.
- Coordinate scheduled system outages and manage significant projects affecting laboratory facilities, serving as the primary contact for alarm systems, including restoration and checks.
- Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety and other vendors to maintain laboratory compliance.
- Manage the lifecycle of lab and office equipment, including procurement, maintenance, calibration, and decommissioning, through effective partnerships with internal and external service providers.
- Facilitate laboratory expansions and reorganizations, including equipment installations and redesigns.
- Establish and nurture vendor relationships to keep the laboratory updated with the latest technologies.
- Contribute to the onboarding process for new employees regarding laboratory requirements.
- Develop and maintain policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and systems to assist scientists in meeting organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical or medical device sector is required.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., GLP) and state biological and chemical permit requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail, along with strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- A proactive self-starter with a collaborative mindset.
Compensation:
- Salary range: $90,000 - $135,000.
