With more than 10,000 NAVAIDs and non-radar surveillance installed worldwide in 180 countries, we are world leaders in the NAVAIDs market. The Senior System Engineer / Project Design Authority (PDA) is technically responsible to validate technical choices, organize technical peer reviews, alert on any technical risks in the project and drive corrective actions. The PDA serves as the main interface towards the customer to clarify/negotiate technical scope in order to reduce technical risks and costs. They have domain expertise in electrical hardware design (preferably within the domain of Radio Frequency RF signal electronics and antennas) and work closely with the architect to ensure design compliance with customers' needs, product policy, make/buy/footprint, etc. and with the Delivery Manager to plan all technical reviews and consider risk actions in the delivery program. The PDA would be an active participant in the development and management of Thales' latest generation of NAVAID systems as part of the global NAVAIDs "Design Authority" team. Lifelong learner is key for this role since the PDA needs to have a broad perspective of the technology and product line.

In the PDA role, you will act act as a peer, a decision-maker, and a guarantor of the performance of the system with respect to the client. In addition, this role has a Thales NAS global component, in which the PDA would have contact with PDA peers in Europe as well as the development teams and the client. Autonomy, leadership, an ability to work in a team in an international context, an ability to convince, a concern for meeting objectives, and a thirst for innovation are the keys to success in this position. The PDA will report directly to the Salt Lake City based Engineering Manager of Thales' NAS business segment. As well as be the owner of one of Thales' RF systems. These systems are primary electrical hardware based but with software/firmware components.
