Senior Information Security Systems Engineer

Position Overview:


As a Senior Information Security Systems Engineer at Harris Geospatial Solutions, you will play a critical role in the cryptographic processes that underpin secure communication systems.

We are seeking candidates with a robust background in cryptography design, development, and certification, particularly in accordance with industry standards such as FIPS 140 and Risk Management Framework.

Our team comprises both seasoned professionals and emerging talents in the realms of cryptography, accreditation, and certification. We aim to attract individuals who are eager to contribute to a highly technical and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Interpret and implement NSA and FIPS 140 requirements for cryptographic products.
• Collaborate with software and hardware design engineers to ensure compliance with certification standards.
• Generate design and testing documentation to confirm adherence to requirements.
• Lead initiatives for NSA certification and FIPS 140 validation.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to review design, implementation, and certification progress.
• Demonstrate adaptability, timely execution, and collaborative decision-making skills.
• Proactively seek clarification on unfamiliar concepts, designs, and implementation details.
• Willingness to travel as necessary.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of related experience. Alternatively, 13 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:


• At least 4 years of practical experience in cryptography design, implementation, or certification, or equivalent educational experience in a cryptography-focused Master's program.

• Must possess or be able to obtain one of the following certifications within 6 months of hire: Associate of CISSP, CISSP, CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP (DoD 8140/8570 qualified certifications).
• Capability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
• Strong technical writing proficiency.
• Familiarity with communication systems, computer networking concepts, protocols (including TCP/IP), and security methodologies.
• Understanding of security engineering principles and practices.
• Awareness of fundamental security engineering design patterns, processes, and technologies.
• Ability to work effectively in both team and individual settings under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Strong problem-solving, creative thinking, and multitasking abilities.
• Experience with matrixed development teams and embedded systems engineering.
• Knowledge of security frameworks such as JCIDS, DJSIG, NIACAP, FIPS 140-2 or 140-3, and NSA certification.
• Familiarity with high assurance cryptographic systems and cybersecurity advisory roles.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Additional Certifications:
• Relevant certifications such as CISA, CISM, CEH, CPT, MCSE, CCNA, Red Hat, Network+, SANS GIAC, Security+, CCNP Security, etc.
• Experience with system security specialties like TEMPEST or Anti-Tamper.
