Position Overview:
As a Senior Security Systems Engineer at L3Harris Technologies, you will play a pivotal role in the cryptographic solutions that empower secure communication for defense operations.
We seek individuals with a robust background in cryptographic design, development, and validation through recognized certification processes.
Our team comprises both seasoned professionals and emerging talent in the cryptography domain.We aim to attract candidates who are eager to contribute to a technically challenging and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and implement NSA and FIPS 140 standards for cryptographic products.
- Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to ensure compliance with certification requirements.
- Generate design and testing documentation to substantiate the adherence to standards.
- Lead efforts in NSA certification and FIPS 140 validation.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to review design, implementation, and certification status.
- Demonstrate adaptability, focus on deadlines, and engage in collaborative decision-making.
- Proactively seek clarification on complex concepts, designs, and implementation details.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 7 years of related experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 4 years of practical experience in cryptographic design, implementation, or certification, or equivalent educational background in a cryptography-focused Master's program.
Possession of one of the following certifications at the time of hire, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months: Associate of CISSP, CISSP, CCNA Security, CSA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP (DoD 8140/8570 compliant certifications).
Capability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Strong technical writing abilities.
Familiarity with communication systems, computer networking principles, protocols (including TCP/IP), and security methodologies.
Understanding of security engineering principles and practices.
Awareness of fundamental security engineering design patterns, processes, and technologies.
Able to function effectively in both team and individual settings under the guidance of senior engineers.
Strong problem-solving, creative thinking, and multitasking skills.
Experience with RF communications and matrixed development teams (hardware, software, systems engineers) as well as embedded systems engineering.
Knowledge of JCIDS, DJSIG, NIACAP, FIPS 140-2 or 140-3, and NSA certification processes.
Experience in high assurance cryptographic systems and government advisory roles in cybersecurity.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and other relevant security or technical certifications such as CISA, CISM, CEH, CPT, MCSE, CCNA, Red Hat, Network+, SANS GIAC, Security+, CCNP Security, etc.
Experience with TEMPEST, Anti-Tamper, or other specialized system security areas.
