Position Overview:
This role involves overseeing the design and architecture of communication systems, ensuring technical leadership for defense-related programs.
The Systems Engineer will manage the entire lifecycle of communication systems, from initial concept through to product retirement. Responsibilities include customer interactions, proposal development, and requirements management.
Key tasks will encompass the creation of technical documentation, project management, design oversight, support for prototype and production testing, integration, verification, and qualification, as well as providing in-house technical assistance throughout the operational lifecycle.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead systems engineering efforts, organizing and managing critical engineering tasks for projects and programs.
- Conduct requirements analysis, ensuring traceability back to customer specifications and system-level requirements.
- Generate design documentation, including technical specifications and test plans, ensuring compliance through verification matrices.
- Guarantee technical performance and quality while adhering to established policies and processes.
- Present design reviews to both internal stakeholders and external customers.
- Assist in project scheduling, budgeting, subcontract management, and risk assessment.
- Oversee system integration, verification, and qualification activities.
- Engage in customer requests for information and proposals, demonstrating technical capabilities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 4 years of related experience. Alternatively, a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
- A current and active US DoD Security Clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Top Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.
- Experience in product development, particularly in military applications.
- Familiarity with networking systems and laboratory work.
- Experience in hardware/software development and lab integrations.
- Strong leadership skills to guide technical direction and contribute to integrated product teams.
- Understanding of communication theory and knowledge in digital, RF, mechanical, network, or software design.
- Experience with LTE, 4G, and 5G systems is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in requirements management and documentation, risk management, project planning, and technical project management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with formal presentation capabilities.
- Familiarity with tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio, and DOORs.
- Experience with software programmable architectures is a plus.
- Design experience in high-rate communication systems, satellite communication systems, spread spectrum systems, and communication networks is preferred.
- Experience managing technical projects involving system integration, verification, and formal qualification.
