Westat has an immediate opening for a Vice President in the Public Health Practice to lead and grow Westat's CDC non-infectious/chronic disease portfolio. This position is responsible for technical and financial oversight of a portfolio of evaluation and technical assistance projects for this agency, and for ensuring client satisfaction and staff growth.
The successful candidate will lead business development and strategy in this area and build and expand client relationships across the CDC. This role reports to the Vice President and Practice Director of the Public Health Practice and is eligible for a virtual work arrangement (U.S. based).

Job Responsibilities:
-Work with Practice leadership to build upon the existing CDC non-infectious/chronic disease portfolio, develop and implement a growth strategy, and set and achieve near and long-term business development goals.
- Lead business development by identifying growth opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations related to CDC non-infectious/chronic disease opportunities.
- Expand client relationships across CDC, aligning Westat capabilities to target opportunities.
- Serve as Corporate Officer for the CDC non-infectious/chronic disease portfolio, provide oversight and support to staff, and work with clients to address issues and ensure a high caliber of performance by fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration within project teams.
- Serve as the Project Director for projects by successfully leading teams; ensuring technical and financial oversight; and providing the highest level of client satisfaction.
- Forecast and manage monthly and quarterly business metrics, including revenue, utilization, and new business targets.
- Serve as a supervisor and mentor for staff, helping them achieve professional and career milestones.

Basic Qualifications:
- Ph.D. plus a minimum of 20 years of experience directing projects and teams within a government contract consulting environment.
- Domain expertise in public health research, evaluation, and training/technical assistance. A track record of bringing innovative technical solutions to projects.
- Experience with CDC with a proven track record of project leadership, successful business development, and effective client interaction.
- Demonstrated experience in successful business development planning, capture, and proposal oversight, management, and writing.

This Vice President role is viewed as a thought leader within CDC. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, able to take initiative, as well as direction from the Practice Director. Must be capable of managing multiple tracks of complex business activities simultaneously. Must be effective working both independently and in teams with a commitment to fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment.
