Key Responsibilities
MSM is looking for a dynamic leader to fill the role of Senior Vice President of Public Policy, who will be instrumental in:
  • Acting as the principal policy advisor to the President and executive team on governmental matters at all levels.
  • Crafting and executing strategies to shape and influence public policy and legislative initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with government entities and elected representatives.

Core Duties
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of legislation affecting MSM, providing regular updates to leadership.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop MSM's annual policy agenda.
  • Foster cooperative relationships with internal stakeholders regarding government-related issues.
  • Prepare position papers, legislative proposals, and updates on legislative matters.
  • Represent MSM in discussions related to public policy and legislative affairs.
  • Engage with external consultants to enhance government relations efforts.
  • Advocate for MSM's interests with government officials on critical issues.
  • Oversee advocacy response mechanisms and formulate strategic approaches.
  • Coordinate visits for elected officials to the campus.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required.

Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in governmental and legislative affairs.
  • Proven track record in advocacy and partnership building.
  • Established connections within state and federal networks.
  • Alignment with MSM's mission and values.
  • Eligibility to register as a lobbyist.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector is essential.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.

Educational Requirements
A Master's degree in healthcare administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or Juris Doctor from an accredited institution is required, along with a minimum of seven years of experience in a senior legislative, public policy, or government relations role within the healthcare domain.

Preferred Experience
Experience within a medical school, academic medical center, or teaching hospital is highly desirable.
