Job Purpose

The primary mission of this position is to lead activities related to equipment characteristic improvement for the East Liberty Auto Plant Stamping Department. This will be accomplished by performing true root cause analysis of top problems and implementing countermeasures.

The goal is to facilitate department S, Q, and D metric target achievement.


• Support project/process with reporting and communication

• Support the achievement of overall project targets

• Job process engineering, development & verification

• Support design analysis, development, and maturation

• Develop solutions to problems of various scope and complexity using Honda problem solving methods

• Test new mechanical equipment after installation to ensure quality and efficiency; make adjustments as necessary

• Conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurring problems

• Analyze equipment data to identify areas for improvement in equipment – use trend data to proactively address issues before they are major problems

• Create timely/accurate records of actions taken in response to mechanical issues

• Evaluate associate safety and ergonomics including insertion force and install posture

Key Accountabilities

Manufacturing Equipment Expert :Equipment top problem root cause analysis and permanent countermeasure.

Collect, analyze, and summarize information and trends related to equipment performance.

Identify improvement opportunities for Key Performance Indicators and for cost avoidance/elimination.

Become an expert in a specific area of automation technology. Then, train associates on equipment or process changes.

Lifecycle management of manufacturing equipment. (Spare Parts, Procedures, PMs)

Project Management: Define and create scope of design and construction for renovation, upgrade of existing electrical systems, or for build of a new system with a focus on cost control. Conduct PDCA during design and implementation stage. Create, implement and maintain project schedules and achieve desired results.

Review, verify and approve mechanical engineering drawings at the various design completion levels. Work with and manage contractors' activities throughout the different phases of a project.

New Technology: Use manufacturing expertise to support company's development of new processes.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering ,Industrial Engineering or MET. or equivalent related experience

A minimum of 2-8 years experience based on education

Ability to interact in a team environment.

Working Conditions

Work at the spot, in the factory

85% Office environment, 15% Production Floor environment

About 2 weeks of travel domestic and international and hours of OT annually
