We're looking for a motivated individual to join Fairfax County's Department of Housing and Community Development's (HCD) Grants Management team and learn the ins and outs of grants management while supporting our dynamic organization In this role, you'll be able to leverage your organizational skills and attention to detail, and gain valuable experience in administering, planning and implementing affordable housing and community development grant activities.

HCD works in partnership with the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority (FCRHA) to serve the people of Fairfax County by creating housing opportunities and inclusive and thriving communities.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

Supports drafting of federal plans and reports needed to administer the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) programs.Assists with solicitation and procurement processes to allocate federal funding.Analyzes data, performs data entry, manages project databases, creates and maintains spreadsheets to track project data.Manages project files and records to ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., completeness, retention schedule, archiving).Assists with monitoring programs and activities.Conducts research to improve project performance and program outcomes.Provides technical assistance to colleagues, nonprofit organizations and other partners.Responds to requests for information from residents, stakeholders, Board of Supervisors, and Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority Commissioners.Coordinates publication of the Grants Management team eNewsletter.Assists with presentations and meetings, including evening meetings, as necessary.Communicates clearly with others verbally, and in writing.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following: (Click on the aforementioned link to learn how Fairfax County interprets equivalencies for "Any combination, experience, and training equivalent to") Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, public policy, business administration or a related fieldFamiliarity with federal CDBG and HOME programs a plusTwo or more years of experience in affordable housing, community development grants management, program implementation and monitoring, solicitation or procurementAbility to manage multiple deliverables and assignmentsAbility to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and residentsAbility to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal directionExperience conducting research and analyzing dataExcellent oral and written communication skills andExperience with the following: data entry, management and reporting; Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary in nature; however, incumbent is required to frequently move about to perform office work such as accessing files, attending meetings, making presentations, operating general office equipment, and performing other essential job duties; may be required to move items up to approximately 15 pounds in weight. Ability to read information on a computer monitor; effectively communicate; operate keyboard-driven equipment and computer. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
