ROLE TITLE: Systems Administrator

POSITION REPORTS TO: Chief Information Officer

Summary of Position

Under the direction of the CIO, this position will manage all aspects of servers, including hardware, operating system, software, virtualization, networking, backups, disaster recovery, troubleshooting, security, and documentation.

As the Systems Administrator, you will:

  • Analysis system specification for install (design/creation/prototype/test) and maintain server hardware and software
  • Monitor and maintain all aspects of server security, availability, and performance.
  • Assist users with server, software and hardware support issues Assist with stewardship, reporting and recognition
  • Perform backup and recovery of servers and data (including annual testing)
  • Administer enterprise SaaS applications based on system design specifications
  • Design, install and maintain virtualization infrastructure
  • Maintain documentation of system requirements, modifications and functional specifications
  • Project Management

Experience and Qualifications

  • Associate degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred, but will consider years’ experience in higher education and systems administration in lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge of:

  • Working technical knowledge of network, PC, and platform operating systems, including Windows and Linux.
  • Working technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards, including [firewalls, Active Directory…].
  • Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with data management.
  • Experience documenting and maintaining configuration and process information.
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.

Required Skills in:

  • Managing all operating systems and end-user software.
  • Managing communications and connection solutions, including workstation connectivity, local area networks, company Web site, intranet, and Internet applications.
  • Ensuring the integrity and security of enterprise data on host computers, multiple databases, and during data transfer in accordance to business needs and industry best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Managing input/output fleet, including printers and scanners.
  • Managing end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices regarding privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Performing network and security audits.
  • Performing and test routine system backups and restores.
  • Anticipating, mitigating, identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations. Escalate incidents as necessary.
  • Practicing network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  • Supporting application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
  • Analyzing system, server, application, network, and input/output device performance.
  • Recommending, scheduling, and performing software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
  • Conducting research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Creating required reports in response to business user needs.

YOUR COMPENSATION

New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role.

This is an exempt position and the starting pay rate range for this position is $50,000 annually. Salary will commiserate with years of relevant experience.
